Fund to have special pavilionat ADIHEX 2017 commemorating the milestone

The International Fund for Houbara Conservation (IFHC)has announced its participation in the upcoming edition of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX), to be held on September 12-16 2017. IFHCwill dedicate a  special pavilion that will highlight the efforts and achievements over the past 40 years, in realization of the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who laid the foundation for an integrated strategy that preserves and sustains the Houbara species. The strategy seeks to develop programs and projects for the captive breeding and release of Houbara into their natural habitat. Several projects that help spreading awareness around Houbara preservation among youth, especially at schools, are also underway.
The pavilion will also organize activities that promote nature preservation and sustainability and will feature several sections focused on education, awareness, and research, with an updated children's corner that has proved popular with young visitors to ADIHEX over the years.
IFHC will also, in collaboration with the Statistic Center Abu Dhabi, survey the opinions of falconry enthusiasts visiting the event, both from the UAE and other countries. The survey will assess falconry practices, past and present, along with main trends in the sport that is practiced around the world. Results of the survey will help set priorities in terms of cultural heritage preservation, as well as sustainabilityof natural resources, also providing a window intobehavioral trends in the future.
A recent survey conducted by IFHC last year has shown increasing levels of awareness among falconry enthusiasts around Houbara and responsibility in its preservation. This year, the Fund aims to capitalize on such awareness and instill the values of sustainability and nature preservation among ADIHEX visitors.
IFHC has invited all stakeholders and enthusiasts of nature, falconry, and wildlife, as well as relevant national and international associations and the general public to visit its pavilion and participate in its diverse activities. Schools, teachers, and parents will be able to develop their knowledge on the several nature and preservation efforts in the UAE. Young visitors are promised a fun experience with the cartoon character ‘Haboor’and the incredible Houbara migration virtual game.
Houbara is the traditional prey in Arabic falconry, a practice deeply rooted in Arabic heritage and one that highlights the importance of sustainable use of resources and preserving nature. People of the UAE are known for their amazing falconry skills, and their high affinity to falcons and experience in their training. UAE falconers have also been known for their strict adherence to ethical values in this sport, whichhas earned international recognition for their sustainability efforts.
